At a pastor’s conference years ago, someone mentioned a book called The Trellis and the Vine. I hadn’t read it, but the metaphor stuck.
The vine represents gospel ministry. It’s the life and growth that comes from God’s Spirit working through His people.
It’s messy. It’s beautiful. It’s real.
Lives changed. Sermons preached. Disciples made. Prayers answered. That’s why you’re in ministry.
But the trellis? That’s the structure that supports the vine. The systems. The finances. The decisions behind the scenes.
No one enters ministry for spreadsheets and budgets. Yet without a strong trellis, even the most Spirit-led ministry can struggle.
OUR FOUNDER
Who We Are
I’m Joel McIntyre, founder of Ministry Financial (MINFIN). I’ve served in pastoral ministry for over 15 years. Along the way, I earned a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and am a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
More importantly, I understand churches, not just on paper, but in practice.
I’ve talked with pastors who worked with accountants only to spend hours explaining how churches really work: giving, budgets, designated funds, volunteers, missions, and dual tax status for pastors. Many are left confused, unsure what to do.
That’s why I started Ministry Financial. To help pastors lead with clarity and confidence. To develop the structure, so you can focus on the mission.
